Christchurch Head of the Stour

Ref. possibility of rescheduling the Head of the Stour 2014. Christchurch have an absolute deadline of 31st March, as on this date all of the various sailing boats are relaunched and the river becomes too congested for the event to take place safely. The only day on which the tides are remotely suitable is Sun 30th March - which unfortunately is also Mother's Day. They have tried running the event on this day before, and it was not that well received so unfortunately have reached the conclusion that it will not be possible to reschedule for this spring. We are investigating whether it will be possible for the event to be run in the autumn, possibly early November for this year.

Christchurch Head of the Stour cancelled.

Regrettably the weather forecast has got much worse over the last 24 hours, with strong Southerly winds forecast from mid morning onwards.

Christchurch have therefore this morning reluctantly taken the decision to cancel the Head of the Stour. They will look at rescheduling and will advise whether this will be possible in the next couple of days.
