REGATTA’S, JUNIOR EVENTS and HEAD RACE DATES - 2019.

Ref. REGATTA’S, JUNIOR EVENTS and HEAD RACE DATES - 2019.

In order to establish as early as possible and with the aim of having firm dates for all 2019 Events by the Autumn Council Meeting could all Event Secretaries please provide me with their ideal 2019 Regatta/Head/Junior Event date – plus an alternative date - by 31st July, 2018 at the very latest. This will allow me time to, where possible, resolve any conflicts prior to the Autumn Council meeting and to submit provisional Event dates to British Rowing for inclusion in their Regatta planning, which is undertaken in early August each year. The Form  - including a copy of the 2019 Tide Tables published in the 2018 British Rowing Almanac to assist with your deliberations has been E Mailed to Event Secretaries and can be downloaded from the H&DARA Web site. Please note – at the Autumn Delegates Meeting of March, 2013 it was agreed that two dates must be given – failure to do so putting an events request at risk – and priority to others events requesting their date.

PLEASE NOTE NO REGATTA DATES FOR 2019 WILL BE ACCEPTED BEFORE 1st JULY, 2018 - ANY REQUESTS FOR SPECIFIC DATES RECEIVED PRIOR TO 1st JULY WILL BE RECORDED AS HAVING BEEN RECEIVED ON THE 1st JULY.

(As agreed at the Autumn Delegates meeting of 19th November, 1994.)

To download the form and Tide Tables from the H&D ARA Web site at - www.hdara.co.uk - go to EVENTS TAB - CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA and scroll down to and click on "2019 Event Date Application Form and Tide Tables."

Draft program for Ryde Regatta on Saturday, 2nd June + confirmation of events thats will be run.

The draft program for Ryde Regatta on Saturday, 2nd June  can now be downloaded, in pdf format, from its calender entry on the home page of the H&DARA Web Site at www.hdara.co.uk

IMPORTANT NOTICE Ref. RYDE REGATTA.

I refer you to the Ryde Regatta Club invitation letter which stated -

“Due to the problem with the tide the regatta committee has once again had to limit the entries in pairs and sculls to one entry per Club. Second and subsequent crew entries will be considered on the day in these events, should Clubs scratch any crews or if the entry is small (see reverse or attached for procedure). Additionally because of the strong likelihood of a larger than usual entries in the Novice Fours events – the following statement, made by the Regatta, was accepted by the Hants & Dorset ARA AGM of 9th March, 2013 – Ryde R. C. statement - Ref. Ryde - You will be aware that the tidal conditions and sandbank at Ryde restrict the Regatta to around four and a half hours – about 22 events – and that we impose entry restrictions on small boat events as a result.  In the past few years this has allowed us to accommodate heats in just one event – usually the Men’s Novice Fours. Following an increase in new members at most clubs there is a possibility of a significantly higher than usual entry in both the Men’s & Ladies Novice Fours events which may require heats in both these events. This can probably only be accommodated by dropping some of the small boat events. Therefore, with the Associations approval, if Heats are required in both the Men’s and Ladies Novice Fours event we will drop some of the small boats events – starting, subject to entries received,  with the Double sculls and the Men’s and Ladies pairs events. The policy will be to advertise all the usual events and refund the entries where any event is not staged due to the need to allow heats in the fours events. Clubs will be advised – by E Mail - of any cancelled events within three days of the Regatta entries closing with written confirmation and refund of entry fees within a week – and a week before the regatta takes place. I hope this is acceptable to everyone.”

An entry of 87 crews and scullers has been received – rising to 97 with requested late entries are included but they are fairly evenly spread. There will not be any heats – all straight finals – and all offered events are included except the Double Sculls where no entries were received and in spite of the fact that at the moment we only have one entry for both the Men’s Senior Fours and the Ladies Senior Sculls – I have included them in the hope that we will receive some late entries. For this reason the Men’s B Masters event has been combined with the Men’s Senior Fours event and if that does not take place this will just be the Masters 50 event.

Please note – because of Ryde’ restricted entry policy in small boat events second and subsequent entries in these event HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED in the draw at this time and will be added on the day in accordance with the procedure if there is sufficient space available – and may be subject to a draw.

So the following EVENTS WILL BE HELD -

CHAMPIONSHIP - MEN’S SENIOR FOURS, MENS JUNIOR SENIOR FOURS, MENS JUNIOR FOURS, MENS NOVICE FOURS, LADIES SENIOR FOURS, LADIES JUNIOR FOURS, LADIES NOVICE FOURS, MASTERS “A”/40+ FOURS, LADIES MASTERS, MEN'S SENIOR PAIRS, MENS JUNIOR PAIRS. LADIES SENIOR PAIRS, LADIES JUNIOR PAIRS, MENS SENIOR SCULLS, MENS JUNIOR SCULLS, MENS NOVICE SCULLS, LADIES SENIOR SCULLS, LADIES JUNIOR SCULLS and LADIES NOVICE SCULLS.

NON-CHAMPIONSHIP – MASTERS “A”/50+ FOURS

This has been combined with the Men’s Senior Fours – which may not take place.

The following event will NOT be staged –

NON-CHAMPIONSHIP

DOUBLE SCULLS - no entries received.

A draft copy of the Program will be sent out by the end of the week to the address indicated on the entry form. The draft copy of the program and the notice above will also be available to download from the Regatta's Calender entry on the Home page H&D Web Site - www.hdara.co.uk  - and on the Ryde Regatta web site - http://ryderc.org/regatta/ - within a few days.
