A brand new, redeveloped, South Coast Journalism will continue and the mark II version of the website is set to be launched at some point in the near future following the massive and truly touching reaction from the local community.
The current version of South Coast Journalism was closed on Monday by editor Alex Barnes due to his current health issues but the senior team, following the local reaction to the news, have decided to continue SCJ, albeit with a major overhaul.
Alex has stepped back into an advisory role and is currently taking a well earned break. However, with the support of Pixel Juice, a new South Coast Journalism website is currently being built to replace the current site. Alex will return to his camera and editorial duties when he is feeling suitably recovered.
We will focus on what we are most popular for: our videography and highlights work. With the support of our major sponsors we will continue as a free service but are also set to bring back the club listings and local events pages. SCJ will also begin to produce video interviews and more video features than it currently does.
Event footage in the online store will also be dramatically improved with price tiers depending on the required quality. We will also be changing SCJ's hours. Much of what Alex and the team here originally did was focused on getting the highlights out quickly. This is what has played a major part in Alex's health and personal sacrifices.
Therefore, SCJ's editorial side will now reflect a standard business and will operate 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Obviously, the videographers will still be out at weekends and in the evening to actually film the sports (otherwise it would all be a bit pointless). Weekend highlights will now be published on a Monday.
South Coast Journalism will also be offering other sports clubs, students or videography companies to promote their own YouTube videos, clips or match highlights through our website on a dedicated page (free of charge) if they wish.
More details will follow through our social media channels in the coming days.
We would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
