Mike Green - Funeral Arrangements, Webcast and Memory Givingdetails

Mike Green - Funeral Arrangements, Webcast and Memory Giving details.

Here are the details of Mike Greens funeral, which will be on Wednesday 25th November 2020 at 11.30am at Bournemouth Crematorium.

The hearse will travel to CRC and arrive at approx 10.45 am.

The car will need to turn around in the CRC car park.  Please could anyone wishing to pay their last respects (whilst maintaining Covid rules) at CRC, park in the adjacent pay and display car park.

The hearse will then travel onto Bournemouth Crematorium for the funeral service at 11.30am. Due to Covid restrictions 30 people are able to attend the service at the crematorium, at the current time we think that there will be around 10 spaces available.  We would be grateful if anyone wishing to attend the service at the crematorium contact Terri Walsh on walshta@yahoo.com, so that we can ensure that there are spaces available and take details for Track & Trace.  For those unable to attend in person the service will also be available to view via a live Webcast, details below.

Hants & Dorset ARA Zoom Delegates Meeting - Saturday, 14th November, 2020 at 10.30am.

Hants & Dorset ARA Zoom Council Meeting Saturday, 14th November, 2020 at 10.30am.

We hope you are keeping safe and well in these difficult times.

The Hants & Dorset ARA were due to hold an AGM in March, 2020 and a Council Meeting in October, 2020 - however in the current circumstances with regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic – the AGM was deferred, with the current Executive Officers agreeing to stay in post until an AGM could be staged.

There are however a number of items that need to be discussed/resolved so the Associations Executive Officers have agreed to stage a council Meeting, via Zoom, on the 14th November, 2020 at 10.30am in spite of the difficulties that will be involved.

We would like to limit participation to one delegate per club and one delegate per event plus the Associations Executive Officers and Live Vice Presidents. Could the Club and Event Delegates plus any Vice Presidents who wish to “attend” please send the contact Email address you wish us to use for this meeting to - pennyrowing@gmail.com by the 7th November. This will be the Email address we use to advise you of how to log into the Zoom Meeting details.

Your Executive Officers have “met” on a regular basis via Zoom since the beginning April, 2020 to discuss the Associations business and following the cancellation the Associations Annual General Meeting, scheduled for 21st March, 2020 - all the Associations Executive Officers agreed to continue in position until it is possible to hold an AGM – probably in March, 2021 – and at this Council meeting we will seek the Associations agreement to this decision – see Agenda Item 4.

The agenda will be limited - as follows -

11) To agree a financial contribution from the Hants & Dorset ARA to the Wessex Regional Rowing Council. [2019 - £300].  Do we not make a contribution this year?

12)  Covid-19 Update.

13) Any other business.

For items marked with * delegates should receive supporting documentation that are either attached to this Email or will be Emailed to you prior to the meeting.

THESE DOCUMENTS CAN BE DOWNLOADED FROM THE EVENT DETAILS ON THE H&D ARA CALENDER ON THE HOME PAGE OF THE ASSOCIATIONS WEB SITE AT - www.hdara.co.uk

If you have and question relating to any item on the Agenda, any nominations for our South Coast Council Delegates and/or “Any Other Business” it would be helpful if you could submit these in advance to - pennyrowing@gmail.com and stephencbull@gmail.com prior to the meeting and preferably by the 7th November, 2020.

Mike Green. Christchurch R. C. and H&D ARA Life Vice President.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Mike Green of Christchurch Rowing Club and a Life Vice President of the Association. Mike was a faithful servant of Christchurch Rowing Club and the Hants & Dorset ARA for a great many years and served in many different capacities for both his Club and the Association.

He will be sadly missed.

Our sympathies are extended to his family and friends and to Christchurch Rowing Club.

The arrangements will be publised here when known or contact Pete Staddon on peter.staddon@ntlworld.com

LYMINGTON ROWING CLUB. SUPPORT MIKE (AND PETE) IN HIS LONDON CLASSICS CHALLENGE!

Michael Leyland-Jones, a long-standing member of Lymington Rowing Club, is attempting to complete The London Classics challenge. This extraordinary challenge requires participants to take on all 3 of London’s toughest events. The London Marathon (26-mile run), RideLondon 100 (100 miles cycle) and the Swim Serpentine (2mile swim).

Michael has completed his ride and swim, meaning his final challenge to accomplish this remarkable trio of event is his London Marathon which is due to take place on the 4th of October.

Due to COVID restrictions the London Marathon have created a unique opportunity to still allow participants to complete this challenge. All participants are to complete their run within their local area and use GPS to track routes and times. Due to this change in procedures another longstanding member, Peter Lock has decided to take on this challenge with Michael.

The pair will be running from Poole in Dorset to Lymington Rowing and are hoping to complete the marathon under 5hrs.

They have decided they would like to do this in aid of Lymington Rowing Club and would love for you to sponsor them.

“We are both not runners (carrying a little bit of extra weight), Normal training plans allow 14-16 weeks training, we will have had only five weeks training so to go from nothing to 26.2 miles in this short time won’t be a walk in the park.

Both of us have a passion for the rowing club and want to support it as much as we can in these COVID times therefore if you feel like sponsoring us then we would be very grateful.”

To donate, please use the handy store below. Payment is made through the friendly folks at PayPal.
