Coalporters Junior & Small Boats Regatta. Saturday, 5th August, 2023 - Postponed.

It is with regret, that following the weather warning and forecasted high winds for the weekend of 40pmh, we have had to take the decision to postpone Coalporters Small Boats & Junior Regatta. Usually, the Coalies course is pretty immune to bad weather and if it were our fours regatta, it would have just been very choppy around the turns. However, with the Small Boats & Junior regatta made up solely of novice scullers and under 16 athletes - many of which it may be their first race - the forecasted conditions are simply not safe to proceed. We looked at every possibility prior to making the decision including shortening the course, employing more safety launches and changing the programme running order but each scenario still came back to the safety of crews mainly on the turns and during marshalling.

Coalporters am currently looking at an alternative date which we hope will be sometime in September and hope to clarify this in the next few days. Coalporters will obviously let everyone know this and we can resubmit / amend entries. For any entries not resubmitted, we will offer a full refund as standard but we will also be open to accepting new entries which may not have been entered previously.

Bob Sivier’s funeral details.

Bob Siviers funeral will take place on Thursday 24th August at 1pm at the Wessex Vale Crematorium West End.
Family flowers only, but donations can be made to Hants & I-O-W Air Ambulance or the PDSA.
Dress code, Club blazer or smart casual.

South Coaat Rowing Championships, Folketstone, 16th September, 2023.

Bob Sivier.

Southampton Amateur Rowing Club are sad to announce the passing earlier this week of Life Vice President Bob Sivier. Bob was a much loved member of our club and the wider Associations. 

Bob had an active and successful rowing career, highlighted by winning the H&D and SCC Senior Men's Championship in 1960 and 61 for SARC. 

Following on from his rowing career Bob was still very much an active part of the community and was a Life Vice President of SARC as well as Life Vice President of Hants & Dorset ARA, and serving as President of the association 1998-99. He was also a Life Member of the South Coast Council. 

Details of Bob's funeral will follow in due course.
