H&D ARA. Regression from Senior Sweep Oar Status.
Regression from Senior Sweep Oar Status.
At the Hants & Dorset ARA Autumn Council Meeting, held at the Itchen Imperial Rowing Club, Southampton, Saturday, 18th October, 2014 the meeting agreed – following a recommendation from the Competitions sub-committee – to propose that Regression from Senior Sweep Oar Status should be introduced for the 2015 Season. As a rule change this will have to be approved by the 2015 Annual General Meeting of the Association, - where it will be an agenda item - which will be held on a date yet to be decided in March, 2015.
The proposed wording of the new rule is as follows –
Any Senior Oarsman or Oarswoman who has not won a Senior Status race shall have the opportunity to regress back after five years of holding Senior Status. Senior men may regress to Men’s Junior Senior Status and Senior Women to Women’s Junior Status. All applications for regression shall be made in writing to the Association Secretary on the regression form provided, stating the year and regatta at which they had their last senior win. The application must be submitted by 31st January of the year that they wish to regress their status.
Therefore in order for the rule/regression to take effect for the 2015 season, subject to the ratification of rule at March 2015 AGM, Clubs/individuals need to make their application for regression in writing before the 31st January, 2015. These will then be approved and the status change put into effect after ratification of the rule at the AGM or disregarded if the new rule is rejected by the meeting.
The regression form can be downloaded from the H&D ARA Website - go to Downloads - then clyb forms. Completed Forms must be returned via E Mail to stephencbull@gmail.com – and will be acknowledged – or can be printed off, completed and posted to Steve Bull, Association Secretary, Hants & Dorset ARA, 10 Brookfield gardens, Binstead, Ryde, I.W. PO33 3NP.
