2016 South Coast Rowing Championships. Herne Bay, 3/9/16

You can now download in pdf format from its calender entry on the H&D ARA Web site at - www.hdara.co.uk - the Advance details, Race Invitation, Open Events Entry Form, a note on the Prize Giving and and advance information booklet for the 2016 South Coast Rowing Championships Regatta, hosted by CARA, at Herne bay on the 3rd September, 2016. Note - entries close on Saturday, 13th August - and there are NO LATE ENTRIES at a South Coast Championship Regatta. Two questions have been posed to the organisors - they are requesting notification of which events each club is entering by the end of August - when entries close on the 13th August - and have asked if their is a seperate JUnior Entry Form as well as the open events one.

Southsea Regatta is on

Southsea have been following the weather forecast during the week, and their decision today is that the regatta is on!

Met office weather forecast is:
·        10:00 WSW 9 gusting 15
·        12:00 WSW 11 gusting 18
·        14:00 WSW 13 gusting 22
·        16:00 WSW 13 gusting 22

The gusts are quite strong in the afternoon, but the good news is it is a westerly so off shore,  and high tide is 10AM so as the wind gets stronger the tide will lower and we will get more off shore protection.  With these winds around midday, we may need to take a view on some of the small boat and junior events but we can sort this with the umpires on the day. It might be a bit wet but it'll be coastal!

Bournemouth Regatta will NOT be re-scheduled.

The Bournemouth Regatta Committee have just formally advised the Association (1.35pm.15/7/16) that they will NOT be rescheduling the cancelled Bournemouth Regatta, 2016. Our understanding is that entry cheques/fees will be returned/refunded.

Return of South Coast Championship Trophies

We have been trying to find out if Herne Bay R. C., who are organising this years South Coast Championship Regatta, wanted Clubs to bring back Trophies won last year to Southsea Regatta on Saturday, as has been the custom in the past - but we had not received any instructions from them regarding this or any alternative arrangements. 

We now understand that if Clubs were planning to - or would like to - return any Trophies at Southsea Herne Bay will accept them and failing that they should be delivered to the Herne Bay Clubhouse, in a clean condition, by the Friday before the Championships - the 2nd September - at the latest.
