British Rowing Coaching Course. Club Coach. August 15th to 19th, 2022.

Where: Horsea Island, Portsmouth

What you'll learn: The British Rowing Club Coach (Sliding Seat) course is a recognised UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rowing and is the first award for coaching individuals on the water. It is aimed at beginner coaches, and is applicable to coaches working with all groups, from novices to competent rowers. The award focuses on developing three coaching behaviours:

  • Having a concern for standards
  • Being a rower-focussed coach
  • Looking to develop continually as a coach.

Who can attend? Anyone over 16 years of age. 

If you are 16 or 17, you will need to be 16 at the time of booking, a parent or guardian will also need to complete a consent form for you, this will be sent to you at the time of booking, in the booking confirmation email. It needs to be completed before you will be able to attend the course. Once you complete the course, you will receive an acknowledgment of attendance, and will be certificated fully after your 18th birthday. 

You will also need to have completed some additional workshops before signing up to a Level 2 course. The prerequisites for this qualification are:

  • Safety Basics Online Module here
  • Cold Water & Hypothermia Online Module here

Once you have completed these learnings, you will need to upload the credentials to your British Rowing profile, they will then be reviewed and approved. This must be completed before you are able to book.

Current Emergency Aid and Safeguarding & Protecting Children training must be held at the time of booking your Independent Assessment, this will be after your attendance on the course.
