The "Daily Echo Trophy" in Memory of Arthur Chatfield.
The "Daily Echo Trophy" was presented to the Association in memory of the late Arthur Chatfield and is awarded annually,
at the Presentation Dinner, by the Association, to an individual
for Services to the Association and to Coastal Rowing.
It was agreed that Clubs would be asked to nominate candidates for the award and that the Association's Executive Officers would make a final decision on who should receive the Trophy from those nominated. Nominations do not have to be, and arguably should not be, from your own Club. It should be noted that the award is for services to the Association and Coastal Rowing - and while there are many deserving Club members who have made a significant contribution to their own Clubs - with this award we seek to recognize significant contributions to our Association and to Coastal Rowing.
Could your Club, therefore, please give consideration to who you may wish to nominate for this Trophy and send the nomination to me at 10, Brookfield Gardens, Binstead, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 3NP or by E Mail me at stephencbull@gmail.com and to pennyrowing@gmail.com by the 22ndth October, 2022.
The Mike Green Coaching Award
For those of you who attended the H&D online AGM in the spring of 2021, you will recall that Christchurch ARC have donated a new Association Trophy in honour of Mike Green, who sadly passed away last year.
The Mike Green Coaching Award will recognise an individual coach or coaching team within the H&D Association who clubs feel should be recognised for their dedication and commitment to their crews and the sport. The first recipient of the award was BTC’s Bob Douglas in 2021.
Mike was passionate about coaching and providing further resources and training for coaches to develop their own skills. Mike held the position of Regional Coach Educator and helped develop and deliver multiple coaching courses throughout the region and nationally. Mike was also a Coaching Tutor and Assessor for British Rowing and all of the coaches in the H&D who have undertaken a coaching course in the last twenty years will have been tutored or assessed by Mike.
If your club would like to nominate a coach or coaching team for this award, please can you provide in no more than 500 words, a summary of their achievements and why you feel they should be considered for the award. The Executive Committee will review each nomination and select the winner.
The award will be presented to the winning nominee at the H&D Presentation Dinner on Saturday 12th November, 2022.
Can all submissions for this award please be sent to pennyrowing@gmail.com and to stephencbull@gmail.com by no later than Sunday, 22nd October 2022.
