Hants & Dorset ARA Rule Amendments Following 2022 AGM.

The Hants & Dorset ARA Rule Amendments following 2022 AGM have now been updated and can be downloaded from the Rules section of the Hants & Dorset ARA Web Site - www.hdara.co.uk

There were only minor changes this year - effecting the Hants & Dorset ARA Status Rules and the Hants & Dorset ARA Rules for Boat Racing as follows - 

Hants & Dorset ARA Status Rules.

18.0. EFFECTIVE START OF STATUS.

18.1. An oarsman/woman's status shall be in accordance with the classifications set out above and any qualifying championship point(s) won effecting status shall take immediate effect shall be applied in status order from 23.59h on the day the qualifying championship point(s) are won.

Hants & Dorset ARA Rules for Boat Racing.

18.0 LENGTH OF BOATS.

18.1. Boats competing in races in which championship points are awarded shall be restricted to 30ft. for fours and 22ft. 6ins.for pairs and sculls excluding any rudder.

Ray New. Life Member, Christchurch Rowing Club.

Ray New an Honorary Life Member of Christchurch Rowing Club passed away suddenly on Saturday 6th February.

Ray had been out sailing in the morning and was on his way home when he suffered a major heart attack. Ray was one of the most successful oarsmen at Christchurch and in the Hants & Dorset with multiple championship wins in Single Sculls, Pairs and Fours. Ray was the winner of 6 South Coast Senior Championships one Junior / Senior Championship and an open Junior winner. Ray commenced rowing in 1964 and was an outstanding athlete in all sports and was captain of Christchurch in 1974, 1979 and 1980.

Ray followed this with a sailing career at Christchurch Sailing Club where he was an outstanding sailor enjoying many successes.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held in Christchurch Priory on Tuesday March 1st at 12:00.
